Merrick's Cozy Newborn Session | Textured Neutrals & Classic Black Backdrop

Some babies surprise you in the best way—and sweet Merrick did just that! At 23 days old, she was past the typical “ideal” newborn window, so I wasn’t sure how long she’d stay sleepy and cooperative. But Merrick absolutely nailed her session. She slept peacefully from start to finish, and we captured every setup I normally include for much younger babies.

Her session was styled with soft neutrals and texture-rich fabrics, creating a cozy, timeless look that I’m completely in love with. One of the highlights was photographing her parents on a black backdrop—a setup I haven’t used in a while, but wow, it made for some stunning, intimate portraits.

It’s such a gift to document these early days for families, especially when the photos are filled with warmth, connection, and just a touch of magic. Merrick, you were a joy to photograph. Welcome to the world, little one.
