What If My Baby Won't Sleep During Newborn Photos?

It's one of the most common questions I hear from expecting parents. "What if my baby won't sleep?" The good news is that newborn sessions don't require a perfect baby. In fact, some of my favorite images come from babies who are awake and curious about the world around them.

Newborn Sessions Are Baby-Led

At Betty & Bobby Photography, sessions are designed around your baby's needs.

  • If baby needs to eat, we feed.

  • If baby needs comforting, we pause.

  • If baby needs extra cuddles, that's perfectly okay.

The goal is never to rush.

The goal is to create beautiful images while keeping everyone comfortable.

What Parents Need to Bring

Not much! My downtown Muncie studio is stocked with wraps, blankets, props, hats, headbands, and posing accessories. Everything is prepared before you arrive. Many parents are relieved to learn they don't need to bring an entire nursery with them.

Awake Babies Can Be Beautiful Too

Some parents imagine newborn photos only happen while babies sleep, but that just doesn’t happen sometimes. Wide-eyed newborn portraits often become family favorites. Those tiny expressions and curious looks are just as meaningful as sleepy poses. I take those opportunities to grab photos of you cuddling, close up’s of them holding your finger or even them eating.

A Comfortable Studio Experience

Located at 108 S Walnut in downtown Muncie and just minutes from Ball State University, Betty & Bobby Photography offers one of the few dedicated brick-and-mortar photography studios in the area.

The studio is designed to provide a calm and welcoming environment for new families.

When Should You Book?

The best time to reserve newborn photography is during pregnancy.

This allows me to hold space around your due date and adjust once baby arrives.
