When Should You Book Your Fall Family Photos in Central Indiana?
Fall family photography season is almost here, and if you've been thinking about updating your family's photos this year, now is the time to start planning.
Fall is one of the most popular times of year for family photography in Central Indiana. Between the changing leaves, cooler temperatures, and beautiful evening light, it is easy to understand why so many families choose this season for their annual photos.
But there is one thing that can make fall photography season stressful: waiting too long to book.
Why Fall Photography Dates Fill Quickly
Outdoor photography depends on more than simply finding an available Saturday afternoon.
I schedule most outdoor sessions around golden hour, when the sun is lower in the sky and creates that warm, flattering light that makes fall photos so beautiful.
That means the number of ideal session times available each week is limited.
Once you add school schedules, sports, family activities, weekends, and the weather into the mix, those perfect fall dates can disappear surprisingly quickly.
If you already know you want family photos this fall, booking early gives you the best chance of getting the date and time that works for your family.
When Should You Book Fall Family Photos?
For families who want photos during peak fall color, I recommend getting on the calendar well before the leaves begin changing.
You don't have to wait until you see the first yellow leaf to start planning.
In fact, by then, many of the most desirable dates may already be booked.
Booking early also gives us time to plan your outfits, decide whether an outdoor or studio session is the best fit, and talk through the look you want for your final images.
Outdoor or Studio?
One of the best things about planning your session with Betty and Bobby Photography is that you aren't limited to one style.
Want colorful fall foliage and golden-hour light? We can plan an outdoor session.
Prefer a more controlled environment with timeless portraits? Your session can take place in the studio.
You can even choose a completely different look depending on what you're envisioning.
The goal isn't to force your family into a particular photography style. It's to create photographs that actually feel like your family.
What About Holiday Cards?
If you're planning to use your family photos for holiday cards, gifts, or updated wall art, scheduling earlier is especially helpful.
Your session needs to happen before the busy holiday season, and you'll want enough time for your images to be selected, edited, and prepared.
Waiting until late November can turn what should be an enjoyable experience into a race against the calendar.
